President of the Anti-Corruption Front of the National Congress speeds up the defense of Transparency International

The President of the Mixed Parliamentary Front to Combat Corruption-FPMCC, deputy Coronel Meira (PL-PE) and deputy Cabo Gilberto (PL-PB) filed a "Request for a Motion of Repudiation" from the day before (07/Feb.) against Federal Supreme Court Minister Dias Toffoli, for persecuting the NGO Transparency International.

The Minister requested an investigation against the aforementioned organization, a week after the entity's publication showing that Brazil fell 10 positions in the Corruption Perception Index (IPC), in addition to pointing out the permissiveness of members of the Brazilian Judiciary to corrupt practices.

STF Minister Dias Toffoli recently took the decision to annul all evidence of Odebrecht's leniency agreement (currently Novonor) and which suspended fines applied to the J&F group, owner of JBS, which could result in more than R $25 billion stops being paid to the government.

On January 30th, the aforementioned NGO published the Index, which is the main corruption indicator in the world, which assesses the integrity of the public sector in 180 countries.

The Transparency International report mentioned the actions of “immense impact on the impunity of corruption cases” in the Federal Supreme Court, reported by Minister Dias Toffoli, in which monocratic decisions have “strong evidence of conflicts of interest” and “other heterodoxies procedural.” In particular, the decision that annulled all evidence of Odebrecht's leniency agreement was cited, which had global repercussions and will have direct implications in at least eleven foreign jurisdictions, as well as the one that suspended a fine of more than R$10 billion imposed on the group J&F, owner of JBS.

According to the Request for Motion of Repudiation, the successive attempts to discredit the organization, which has global recognition for its anti-corruption work, reveals yet another clear persecution of the entities, institutions, agents and citizens who fight to end this evil that plagues the country, which feeds criminal organizations and supported and continues to support power projects.

“I want to express my total solidarity with Transparency International and repudiate the events that occurred. The Mixed Parliamentary Front to Combat Corruption will work together to send a strong message: Brazil can no longer tolerate so much corruption!” Said Colonel Meira.
