Deputy Coronel Meira (PL-PE) presented, this Thursday, 15th, a request to summon the Minister of State for Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski, to provide, in person, in Parliament, clarifications about the escape from the Federal Penitentiary of Mossoró – RN, of prisoners Rogério da Silva Mendonça and Deibson Cabral Nascimento, linked to Comando Vermelho (CV).

Last Wednesday, 14th, federal agents discovered the escape of two inmates from the Federal Penitentiary of Mossoró – RN, one of the five maximum security prisons in the country, being the first recorded escape in the history of the federal penitentiary system. The fugitives served their sentences in a Differentiated Disciplinary Regime (RDD), subject to stricter rules than those of the closed regime. It is discovered that, at 3:17 am, the fugitives climbed one of the lamps, gained access to the ceiling, cut the fence and jumped, and the main suspicion is that they had used materials from a construction site in the penitentiary yard as instruments in the action.
To date, the Federal Government has not publicly clarified the circumstances of the escape, as well as whether the fugitives had internal assistance to facilitate their exit, since there are no answers as to how it was possible for them to have crossed the cell, the corridor, the courtyard and closed circuit TV cameras. “The presence of the Minister is essential, in order to clarify issues involving the aforementioned escape, to the parliamentarians of the Chamber, mainly regarding the Ministry's stance under the new management, in relation to the fight against organized crime and the strengthening of the Public Security Forces in the Country." Says Meira.
